It is DelAWARE® that enables Delawareans to sit in their homes or at their businesses and access library resources when the library is closed or whenever they need information. All you need is a library card with a barcode number and PIN number from your local Delaware public library.

AnswerONline is a network of experienced Delaware reference librarians offering free, live, interactive assistance with your questions. We are a collaborative virtual reference project of these partner libraries.   We offer assistance 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

    The Issue : Your Dover Public Library no longer has enough space to conduct the

    business of providing library services for our region.

    The Recommended Location: The site bordered by Dover City Hall and the US Post Office.

    The Cost: $18.2 million dollars

    The Solution: To secure funding to build an est. 52,000 sq. ft. "Anchor" Library Facility

    for the Kent County region of Central Delaware.

    • More than 50% of the people that use the Dover Public Library live outside of the City of Dover!
    • Nearly 400,000 people visit the Dover Public Library yearly!

    The Role of the Dover “Anchor” Public Library

    • Compliments future Kent County-Based Regional and Community libraries north and south
    • Centrally located.
    • Accessible to transportation systems
    • Open seven days per week
    • Largest and strongest collection of library materials in terms of depth of all types.
    • Largest staff due to extended hours, extensive usage by the public, and

              the support role for the Regional and Community libraries

    • Greatest number of professional librarians with an earned master’s degree accredited by the American Library Association.
    • Ample training facilities and classes/programs for public and staff
    • Most meeting rooms and conference room space for public and staff usage

    • All library customers need to physically have their library account cards with them to borrow library resources

    as well to use library computer workstations

    • Have your library account card when you access your 'Library Cyber-Branch'
      A library account card is a privilege.    Keep your library account card fine free.
    • Everyone is responsible and accountable for knowing and following library procedures.  
    • Ask questions in-person, by phone or by e-mail!!
    • Please note library computer time policy: 75 minutes per person, per day.  
    • If you lose your Library Account Card, you must report it immediately.
